Why do you need a vignette Austria for your vehicle?

Toll fines for buses and lorries (vehicles exceeding 3.5 mpw)
Drivers who try to omit toll fees have five hours to do so and 100 kilometers (they can do it for example at a GO outlet). The toll fine is to be paid in case they do not decide to pay the toll.
The toll fine varies according to the particular incident. For example:

Exceptions to the mandatory vignette usage
As of 15 December 2019, under the Federal Roads Toll Act, Austria introduced vignette exemption for the four following road stretches:
- A 1 Westautobahn: the toll road between the country border at Walserberg and the Salzburg Nord junction;
- A 12 Inntalautobahn: the toll road between the country border at Kufstein and the Kufstein-Süd junction;
- A 14 Rheintal/Wlagau Autobahn: the toll road between the country border at Hörbranz and the Hohenems junction;
- A 26 Linzer Autobahn: the toll road still remaining under construction.
Driving the above-listed roads does not require having a vignette in Austria.
